Announcements:

Thank you Lance for 10 years of service to South Lane Wheels.

General Information

About South Lane Wheels:

History:

Established in 1982 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) based in Cottage Grove, our mission is to provide safe, accessible and economical service to those who need transportation to local destinations and as far away as the Eugene/Springfield metro areas. For 40 years South Lane Wheels has provided thousands of individuals rides to doctor appointments, shopping, restaurants, residences, nutrition sites, recreation, workplaces, school, and special events.

Purpose:

SLW is not just for seniors. Anyone can ride because there are no eligibility requirements! There are low cost options: a low cost app based mobility on demand service, local and metro door-to-door  services, plus a route that connects Lane and Douglas Counties.

Service Area:

We are a public transportation system that connects people with where they want to go in South Lane County including Cottage Grove, Creswell, Dorena, Culp Creek, Saginaw, London, and Lorane.

Ridership:

During 2022 South Lane Wheels provided approximately 16,951 one way rides to destinations where people need to go. Whenever possible we grouped riders to conserve our environment and allow for additional trips, as we drove over 124,251 miles. All of our six vehicles are wheelchair accessible, which means a lot when the lift was used 446 times.

Funding Sources:

South Lane Wheels is funded by federal, state and local grants and supported by local and in-kind donations. It is operated by a dedicated staff and a volunteer board of directors that provides oversight and conducts a public meeting once a month. Whenever possible, South Lane Wheels collaborates with area agencies and businesses to maximize community benefit.

How to Ride Tips:

Who Can Ride? Everyone!

South Lane Wheels is a public transportation transit agency with no eligibility requirements to ride. This means that you can ride with us on any service we offer be it the Origin to Destination Service, the Metro Shuttle, the LTD Connector or the Lane – Douglas Connector.

Be Prepared

All of our services have a schedule to maintain with the riders’ needs in mind.

  • Riders need to be at their pick up location before the scheduled pick up time.
  • Unscheduled return trip is considered a “Will Call” ride which may have a 30-minute wait after pick up call is made.
  • We accept cash, check or SLW ticket. Drivers do not make or carry change.
  • Drivers and SLW office sell discounted ticket books.
  • Riders must pay the fare upon boarding and have ready any carry on items.

Be Responsible

CANCELLATION POLICY- Please be considerate and respectful of other riders and our drivers by calling the dispatcher by 8am day of your ride to cancel a reservation or it is considered a “No–Show.”

The “5-MINUTE RULE” allows the driver to wait up to 5-minutes after the scheduled pick up time for a rider to board the vehicle. If a rider does not board within the 5-minutes, the driver will leave, and report this trip as a “No–Show.”

A pattern of “No–Shows” may affect future ride requests.
